Call for Concept Notes for Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) Project in Nepal

AWO International is looking out for new partners with a core expertise in Disaster Risk Management for strengthening resilience of earthquake affected communities’ in Nepal. Concept Notes should be submitted before 25th of April 2016.

AWO International is a German INGO working in the field of Development Cooperation (Livelihood, Promotion of Safe Migration and Anti Human Trafficking) and Humanitarian Response and Recovery in India, Nepal and Bangladesh. For strengthening resiliency of the communities, AWO International plans to implement new project with CDBRM approach in Nepal in one of the earthquake affected districts. We invite organizations who fulfill the following criteria to submit a concept note for a project from mid-2016 to mid of 2018. 

Organizations interested to apply should fulfill the following criteria:
* Expertise in Community inclusive Based Disaster Preparedness (CBDP) model, WASH and School Based DRR.

* Proven experience of minimum 2-3 years in implementation of results based projects with reputed donors particular within the context of inclusive CBDP.

* Applying good governance and proper organizational policies within the organization
* Registered and affiliated with Social Welfare Council, District Administration Office and having PAN


The Concept Note should be written in English and should not be longer than 7 pages including cover letter.

The concept note should be written using the following sections.
* Background – Disaster context

* Problems, needs and risks analysis of the proposed area

* Proposed geographical working areas (District, VDC),

* Demography of proposed district/VDC, planned approaches and Target groups (include disaggregated numbers where possible)

* Coordination mechanism for project delivery (Linkage between local communities and government institutions, synergies with other actions and coordination with other actors (Civil Society, Government)
* Project logic (Outcome, Outputs and key activities)

* An estimated budget (Human resources, Operation and management excluding human resources and direct activity costs). No detailed breakdown of the budget is required at the concept note stage. Pre-selected partners will be required to provide this information later.


Concept Notes should be submitted together with the following documents:

* Annual reports of the last 2 years (if available)
* Audit reports of the last 2 years
* Organizational profile and or strategic plan
* Financial/administrative/human resource policy of the organization
* Specific report of an ongoing or completed project in context CBDP or relevant sector
* Registration certificates SWC, DAO, PAN

All concept notes should focus on strengthening resilience of local communities and institutions in any of the earthquake affected districts with components on WASH, School Based DRR, and capacity building for risk reduction through multi hazard approach. The targeted issues should focus on the core expertise of the applying organization. 
Concept notes will be assessed after 25th of April, and only then, potential partners based on the concept notes will be invited to submit a full proposal as per the AWO International guidelines.
